How to write abstracts for an international scientific conference

One of the forms of acquaintance of fellow specialists with the results of scientific research is scientific conferences. Scientific conferences are university regional, branch, republican, all-Russian and international. Their level is determined by the composition of the participants and the nature of the problems discussed. Conferences can be theoretical, practical, scientific-methodical and scientific-practical.

Abstract formatting rules

Publication of articles in scientific journals is considered a more serious publication than conference abstracts. But it is not. It all depends on the rating of the journal and the level of the conference. Probably, this is determined by the fact that for the defense of a dissertation it is required to publish at least two articles in the VAK journal. Abstracts, despite the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission to consider them as publications taken into account in the defense, do not cancel the need to submit at least two articles for defense.

Each conference held publishes on its website all the rules of its holding, including the requirements for abstracts. Abstracts must be sent two or three weeks in advance, or even a month in advance. This is the time required by the Organizing Committee to select the best works, review them, and correct deficiencies. Abstracts of reports that have passed the selection are printed by the beginning of the conference.

In addition to information about the time for submitting abstracts to the Organizing Committee, you need to make sure that the conference materials in the form of a collection will be placed in the RSCI. As for the design of the theses themselves, the requirements for them, as a rule, are standard. Below are the main data that must be indicated along with the submission of abstracts:

1. Name of work;
2. Surname, Name and Patronymic of the author in full, and in the same spelling that is in your documents;
3. Name of the organization where the author studies or works;
4. Surname, First name, Patronymic and academic degree and title of supervisor;
5. Speaker’s email;
6. List of used literature (strictly according to GOST). Number of sources from 3 to 5;
7. Literature references in the text.

The difficulty in the participation of our compatriots in international conferences is quite banal: lack of knowledge of the English language. Abstracts of reports, as a rule, are also submitted in this language. The application must also be made in accordance with the requirements of the Conference Organizing Committee, which are published on the website and all this is in English. The languages ​​of the conference are indicated in the rules of the conference. Usually they are: the national language of the country in which the conference takes place, and English.

Participation in such conferences is usually free. For the publication of abstracts, they may ask for money, or maybe not. It depends on the organizers of the conference. Travel and accommodation are paid by the participants themselves. Often, conference proceedings are published in separate collections, many of which are indexed in the RSCI. Such a publication in a collection of articles will be considered as a serious scientific work that has received international recognition. If such a collection is indexed in Scopus, then there is a high probability that the Dissertation Council may accept it as a credit for defending a dissertation.

Publication of scientific collections in “Ru-Science”

Collections of scientific papers are published by the publishing house in the presence of the application of the organization holding the conference, and the signing of the contract. Abstracts of speeches contained in the collection must have internal reviews, and only in this case they will be considered as publications of the article in the e-library.
