Step-by-step instructions on how to instill a healthy habit in 6 steps.

You’ve probably heard that it takes 21 days to form a habit. But in reality this is not the case. To acquire a good habit, it is not enough just to perform the same action every day, it is also important to set a goal and deadlines, constantly motivate and encourage yourself. We have prepared step-by-step instructions with which you can constantly do useful things in 6 steps.

Step 1. Decide what habit you want to inculcate

Run in the morning, read 20 pages a day, study tickets before the exam – choose one thing, do not try to change everything at once. If you take on too much, you will most likely fail and give up quickly. Better yet, replace old habits with new ones. For example, you like to drink several cups of coffee a day, but you want to train yourself to drink more water. Place a glass of water on your desktop to quickly switch from one activity to another.

Step 2. Consider what you need a good habit for

The stronger your motivation, the sooner you can get involved in a new activity. For example, you decide to play sports to lose weight for prom, or you want to solve as many problems as possible in order to get a perfect score on an exam. Try to be honest about your goal.

Step 3. Set deadlines

You’ll be exercising until the summer or want to stay healthy all the time, you’re planning to read 20 pages on a regular basis or until you’ve finished a particular book. Understanding deadlines will help you focus better and develop a good habit.

Step 4. Draw a graph

In mastering a habit, regularity and clear rules are important. If you decide to run every day, then it is better to do it at the same time, for example, at 7 am. Think in advance how much time you will spend on training, when you will definitely be able to do it and you will not be distracted by other things. Mark your results in a graph to be inspired by them in difficult moments.

Step 5. Praise yourself for accomplishments

In order to motivate yourself and not relax, come up with a reward system. It can be anything: your favorite series, funny video, delicious tea, games. At first it will be difficult, so try to support yourself and praise.

Step 6. Tell loved ones about the new habit

Share the news with your parents and friends, let them know about your achievements from time to time. You can even offer to learn a useful activity together, motivate each other and share impressions or results.

Create good habits gradually, step by step, to accurately achieve your goals and not return to the starting point.
